When you use the free growl towels they give out at sporting events as: 

hand towels, hot compresses, clean up messes, 

pull hot things out of the microwave and 

tons of other uses not including being school spirited. :P

When you use bobby pins for many things other then styling hair:

 holding bra straps together in an X on your back,

 keeping chip bags closed, 

or bookmarking pages in a text book. :D

You know you're in college when you spend all your 

food money on cute spring dresses

 and then have to pay for a sonic shake in dimes and nickels. 

I couldn't use quarters, I need those 

for laundry. :P

When you have to make strange substitutes when it comes to completing a recipe.

 JT and I had our hearts set on noodles with alfredo sauce for lunch the other day but we had no milk, which the alfredo powder recipe required. Franticly, we texted neighbors and friends searching for a 1 1/2 cups of milk with no avail. We didn't want to run to the store so searching the fridge, we found rice milk and used that. It turned out great! :P

It reminds me of the time I used margarita salt on my mac and cheese because its the only kind of salt we had.

You know you're in College when...sday

You have taking multiple study breaks throughout the semester because your roommate came home with new clothes and you want her to model all her new purchases. Especially when it is a formal dress.

When seeing very young children is a very strange occurrence,

 and they keep getting cuter!

I wanted make pancakes for lunch, but when I pulled out the milk it, was frozen to the bottom of the carton and a few days or so past the "best by date". Later when I mixed it into the batter, it was more like milk slushy. The eggs are also a bit on the cold side and the yoke wouldn't mix right at first. Haha so I had to adjust the temperature on the fridge. And not to worry, the pancakes turned out great!

You know your in college when...sday

You have that talk with your roommates where you all decide that you could probably survive the rest of the week without grocery shopping. Its Wednesday already anyway.
Its goes something like:


- JT lists the food be have still for possible meals
- I list things we don't have...like bread
- and all of us agreeing we can go to ghetto HEB when the snow lets up if we need a few things.

You know you're in college when...

...you wake up at 7am from thirst. You know when you wake up in the middle of the night cause you have to pee? Well I woke up at 7 thirstier then a camel runnin on empty in the desert. My room mate and I have no more gallons of water left. And waco water tastes like the bottom of a lake. Needless to say I have been a bit dehydrated. :P

All your room mates freak out at small cooking feats. 
I made teriyaki sauce from a recipe my mom gave me, then poured it on chicken and baked it for 35 min. it turned out absolutely delicious, but they were both so excited and impressed. I laughed because eating super yummy food isn't as common an occurrence as it was back home.

Teriyaki Chicken (Sweet Chicken)

Ingredients

- 6 Thawed Chicken Breast - 1/2 c Soy Sauce - 1/2 c Sugar - 2 t vegetable oil - 1 1/2 T Red Wine Vinegar - 1 Minced Garlic Clove - 3/4 t Ground Ginger

Instructions 1 - Preheat oven to 350. 2 - Mix everything but chicken in a bowl. (this is teriyaki sauce) 3 - Put chicken in a baking pan and pour the mixture over it. 4 - Bake for about 35 min. Longer if chicken is still a bit frozen. Serving Suggestions Serve over rice with extra sauce and with peas.

You go home for break and refuse to go to the movie theater in your area because there isn't a student discount that gets you a ticket for $5. Paying between $8 and $12 is just outrageous!

Are you cheap when it comes to certain purchases? What do you do for fun with your time at home?

You know you're in college when...sday

You come home for christmas break and can't work any of the technology in your house. I went to turn on the tv, and there are so many buttons on the remote and a bunch of different machines under the TV that I was completely overwhelmed. There is a dvd player, tivo box, satellite box, and a separate system for the sound. Of course we can't just use the speakers on the TV for sound. No. We have to have separate speakers all in the ceiling. I guess thats what happens when your uncle who lives close by works in installing high end technology in uppity homes. We get all the perks. But the down side, when none of my siblings are home...I can't watch TV. How do you even turn on all this nonsense?

To top things off, I need to print a packing slip for a textbook I sold on Amazon, but I am going to have to wait for my little sister to get home so she can show me how to connect my computer to the damn printer.

...you only have enough quarters for one load of laundry. So you put all your clothes in the washer but...its much too full. They will not get clean packed in there like that.

So I'm in the basement, kneeling in front of the washer, picking things out and deciding what can go without being washed this week and taken home to be washed in a week. What a strange life.

...you blow your nose into a used dryer sheet. The semester is winding down and I'm only going to be here in Waco for about 2 more weeks. So I don't want to buy more cotton balls/shampoo/tissues cause I'll be home very soon. But till then I have to be kinda of creative.
